PDO Thread Lift

PDO Thread Lift

Threading is a safe and effective technique that involves the insertion of threads beneath the skin in order to stimulate collagen production and tighten the skin. The threads are composed of polydioxanone (PDO), which disintegrates after six months but retains its effect for up to two years. For optimal results, these threads should be used in conjunction with botulinum toxin and fillers.

The threads immediately lift the skin mechanically and continue to stimulate your own collagen production over the next few months. As a result, the best results are expected three months later. PDO threads offer four significant advantages:

  1. Once inserted, the threads anchor the skin and lift it upwards
  2. Redefines facial curves and contours
  3. Skin rejuvenation and tightening through stimulation of collagen
  4. Improve skin texture through neovascularisation

The procedure takes between 45-60 minutes and is performed under local anaesthetic.

Polydioxanone - What Is It? (PDO)

Polydioxanone (PDO) is a very safe material that is frequently used in heart surgery to promote cell cohesion.

Although PDO threads are biodegradable after six months, their effect lasts for many more months.

What Areas Can Benefit From PDO Thread?

•            Eyebrow lifting

•            Cheeks

•            Nasolabial folds

•            Around the mouth

•            Jaw Line

•            Jowls

•            Neck

•            Arms

•            Abdomen

•            Other body parts

How Many Types of PDO Threads Exist?

PDO threads are classified into two broad categories:

1.      PDO threads with barbs

2.      PDO threads without barbs

Barbed PDO threads are extremely strong and have a high lifting capacity. They secure and elevate the skin. Each side requires 4-8 threads.

PDO threads that are not barbed are fine threads with a low lifting capacity. They are used to tighten and rejuvenate the skin in situations where skin lifting is not necessary. These threads are significantly less expensive than barbed PDO threads. Where no lifting is required, these PDO threads can be used, and we will work by tightening the skin. For instance, these are extremely beneficial in the arms and abdomen.

If you encounter extremely low-cost PDO thread treatments, this could be because low-cost non-barbed PDO threads are being used, which have a low lifting capacity.

Are PDO Threads Painful To Lift?

The face is numbed with a numbing cream before a local anaesthetic is injected. After the local anaesthetic has been injected, the PDO threads are inserted with minimal discomfort.

Is Bruising A Possibility?

We introduce PDO threads beneath the skin using a blunt cannula rather than needles. In comparison to sharp needles, blunt cannulas avoid blood vessels and vital structures. PDO threads are introduced with a low risk of bruising when combined with proper technique.

How Long Do PDO Threads Take To Execute?

Instantaneous lifting results. The best results, however, are obtained after three months, as PDO threads also stimulate collagen production, which helps to tighten and lift the skin.

How Long Does The Procedure Last?

Treatment with PDO threads typically takes between 30-60 minutes.

How Long Do PDO Threads Lift?

The effect of PDO threads should last between one and two years, depending on the quality of your skin and your lifestyle. If you want to maintain maximum lifting capacity, it is best to conduct an annual review and repeat the procedure once a year.

What Are The Side Effects?

PDO threads are very safe, and complications are rare.

•            Swelling

•            Bruising and haematoma

•            Infection

•            Foreign body reaction

•            Injury to arteries or veins

•            Migrations of the threads

•            Facial nerve trauma

•            Asymmetry

•            Pain

•            Allergy to PDO threads (very rare)

•            Scarring for the track of the tread

•            Pigment changes – avoid the sun at least for 4 weeks post-treatment

•            Further treatment might be required to achieve the desired results
